I often spend time in a senior's home in the morning, cooking and cleaning and doing personal care. Then switch to my I dependant outreach clients. Picking clients up, as their handicaps require transportation, blood work, nursing and doctor appointments, shopping, out for hot chocolate. Sometimes we have the time to visit some farm markets, a beach or the butterfly garden. In the winter we have spent time cooking together, or doing art.

Eight hours with no scheduled breaks or lunch time. If you get a chance, you eat something or have a coffee, while still meeting residents' needs and answering the phone and doorbell.

Somedays are a non stop kaleidoscope of drama, verbal abuse, "street business" being dragged inside the building, people in crisis, people high on various substances, psychotic episodes, people with no hope who desperately want help that we don't have the resources to provide. Other days are calm and are days when what you think is a small thing or a few words, or a listening ear makes the world of difference to someone.

Every day is different, it shifts between completing client records, reports, attending meetings, advocating for individuals, providing parenting support strategies, and working individually with the child or youth. The hours vary yet the main times I will see clients are after school hours, between 3pm-8pm.
